Yikes Stripes!!!

So...this morning was just like any other morning, or close enough. Raemi woke up at 5:45am and wouldn't go back to sleep. Our living room is completely babyproofed, so Mike made himself a pallet on the floor and slept in there while she played. He let me sleep in till 8:45 and then got me up cause he had to go to work. By that point Raemi was ready for a nap so I rocked her to sleep, and then feeling quite exhausted because she kept me up quite a bit last night, I went back to sleep myself. At 10:30 she awakened so I  got her out of  her crib and I set her in the living room while I went to find a cute outfit to put her in. When I came back  to the living room I saw the most horrifying sight.

Little Raemi was standing in the middle of the room with a look of terror on her face. I followed her gaze to the glass doors leading to our 3rd floor balcony, and saw 3 men standing just outside!!! Actually they were huddled together looking at or talking about something, I'm not sure I didn't stand there long. None of them were looking at us, so I grabbed Raemi, ran into my bedroom and used our desk chairs to barricade ourselves in. I called Mike and he raced from his office to come here (fortunately he only works a few blocks away). I didn't call 911 because I was telling myself they must be maintenance workers fixing something. In hind sight, I should have just called 911 anyway. Mike got home and contacted the front office who confirmed that they were fixing a leak from our balcony to the 2nd floor. But it was a contract crew not the normal maintenance staff so I didn't recognize them. Mike gave them a thorough tongue lashing for being on someone's balcony without  informing them first. And then he took the rest of the day off because in addition to being so terrified that I felt like crying with relief once I knew we were ok...I had injured my back yesterday and then made it 10  times worse by holding, swinging and bouncing Raemi to keep her quiet in the bedroom so I could listen for any sign that they'd gotten in the house.

On a lighter note, here's a snapshot of Raemi eating markers!

Happy Wednesday!
